The devotion to the Holy Family was born in Bethlehem along with baby Jesus. The shepherds went to adore the Child, and at the same time, they gave honor to His family. Later, in a similar way, the three wise men came from the East to adore and give honor to the newborn King with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh that would be safeguarded by His family.
Christmas is a time of remarkable generosity. God gave the most generous gift of all when he sent Jesus to us as a baby. In this season of giving, please consider making a Christmas Collection gift to our parish during this holiday season.
We invite our parish community to join us for our Christmas and New Year Masses. Check out our Mass schedule listed below. Many blessings for a safe, Advent season.
One of the best ways to reduce the amount of taxes you pay annually is to make a charitable contribution to the parish. If you do so before December 31st you can lower your tax bill (be sure to consult your tax advisor). The IRS requires, however, that you have proof of your donation. For this reason, be sure to use your monthly envelopes so that the parish can provide you with a receipt should you need one in addition to your cancelled check. Our parish depends on these special annual contributions of our parishioners to make up the deficits in our budget. Thank you for your generosity!
Traditionally “La Posada” commemorates the journey of Mary and Joseph from Nazareth to Bethlehem and their search for shelter in preparation for Jesus’ birth. For the OLHR Community “Las Posadas” becomes a symbolic representation of the search for protection for immigrants and refugees targeted for oppression and marginalization. As we recreate the historic journey of Mary and Joseph, we emphasize the fight for justice and our commitment to comprehensive and compassionate immigration reform. We recognize the economic, social and cultural contributions of immigrants to the country and call for an end to the separation of families, and avoids the dismantling of the rights already protected. Save the day and join our parish groups in this celebration.
During Advent, we wait in expectant hope for the arrival of the Baby Jesus, as his mother Mary would have done so long ago. This is the perfect time to walk with others. You can support the OLHR Parish Project by choosing an item or several from the tree. Thank you for making Christmas special for needy in our community.
